COLLISIONS IN FOG AT TAKANINI

ELEVEN CARS CONCERNED ACCIDENTS THIS MORNING Heavy fog on the Takanini flat on Saturday morning led to numerous collisions, involving 11 cars, on the Gr€;at South Road. None was serious. li/TR. MARWICK, a builder, of Papakura, was travelling to Auckland, and pulled up just in time to avoid colliding with a car, driven by Mr. R. Store, of Takanini. Another motor coming behind crashed into both of them. As they were straightening the bent mudguards and making minor repairs, a car pulled up on the opposite side of the road to offer assistance. A few minutes later two cars collided in the narrow opening left in the centre of the road. Fortunately, little damage was done to any of the motors. Mr. Collins, a baker, of Takanini, was delivering bread this morning when a car travelling to New Plymouth crashed into the cart. Both shafts were smashed and the body of the cart severely damaged. Three cars collided near Papakura, but all escaped with dented mudguards. Another car ran into a flock of sheep between Takanini and Manurewa. Three of the animals were killed and the axle of the car was broken. No one was injured. The fog did not disperse until a little before 10 o’clock.
