ENGLAND BEATS SOUTH ISLAND Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. The croquet test match series between the visiting English team and the South Island team were concluded yesterday. The result of the two days’ play was a victory for England by four matches to two. The results of yesterday’s play were as follow: Miss Steel and Colonel Du Pre (England) defeated L. G. F. Ross and G. F. Chambers. 26—1,220;6 —0; H. J. Williams and S. McCullough (South Island) defeated Sir Francis Wemyss and Miss J. Heta-llack, 26 —25, 26—3.
