STILL AT VARIANCE WAIHOU BRIDGE QUARREL At Wednesday evening’s meeting of the Te Aroha Borough Council, Mr. S. Jones, of the firm of Jones and Adams, engineers, Auckland, answered the allegations made by Mr. T. J. James, clerk of works for the Waihou River bridge, concerning neglect of the work in hand. Mr. Jones dealt with several questions raised by the clerk, when Mr. Carroll raised a point of order on the ground that there should be no discussion in the absence of Mr. James, who was ill. The Mayor, however, ordered Mr. Jones to proceed, and he did so, when he was again interrupted by another request to the Mayor to close the discussion. , __ The Mayor again refused, but Mr Jones agreed to reserve his defence until the clerk was able to attend a council meeting.
