Hamilton brought 50 up with a single off Grimmett after 43 minutes’ play. At 20 Jacobs gave a chance, but Ponsford dropped it. Hamilton next pulled Grimmett to the leg boundary. At 65 Oxenham replaced McNamee and in the second over clean bowled Jacobs. — 71 —2 —23. Page opened vigorously. When he was three an appeal for leg before by Oxenham was disallowed. Hamilton scored his fifth boundary by driving Grimmett to the boundary. The century appeared after 88 minutes’ play. Hamilton reached 50 by driving Grimmett for four. He had been in 90 minutes and gave a chanceless display. He was loudly applauded when he sent two balls to the fence off Blackie. The luncheon score was 119 for two-.
