OLYMPIC GAMES

FINANCE FOR SWIMMERS CARNIVAL TO BE HELD The question of raising the necessary finance to send New Zealand swimmers to the Olympic Games was j discussed at a special meeting of the , Auckland Centre last evening. It was decided that the best means of accomplishing this was to hold a carnival. As it would be necessary to have the two women swimmers now in Australia back in Auckland for this carnival, it was decided to communicate with/the New Zealand Council asking it not to extend the itinerary. Messrs. C. A. Edenborough, J. Enwright and H. Mbore were appointed a committee to draw up a programme for the carnival. Permission was granted the Mount Eden Club to hold a carnival on March 5, the ‘Waitemata Club on March 13, and the Drapers’ Club on March 19. The Whangarei Club, which was suspended last week for failure to pay the necessary fees, was reinstated upon receipt of a letter stating that the money had now been paid in.
