ANOTHER RESERVOIR?

MOUNT EDEN SURVEY ENLARGEMENT PROPOSALS City Council workmen are at present engaged on a survey of levels on Mount Eden, with the Idea of considerabl> increasing the storage capacity of the water storage reservoirs. At the moment the question has not been before the City Council, except as portion of the general scheme for increasing water storage in the city, a portion of which scheme is the doubling of the capacity of the Khyber Pass reservoir at present under way On Mount Eden there are at present two city reservoirs. one holding 1.000.000 gallons and the other half a million. The tentative proposal is to considerably increase the capacity of the smaller reservoir. It is understood that Lho proposal is to do away with the present roof, and to extend the reservoir until it measures approximately 199 feet by 189 feet, and 17 leet in depth. The further idea is to cover the new reservoir with a fiat roof, which will he covered with soil and grassed. The scheme will be subject to a report by the engineer to the committee concerned. The committee will, in turn, report to the council. r -h Ht -k 3k 4; H; rfc -fc
