NEW ZEALANDERS FOR THE EAST Pres s WELLINGTON, To-day. At a meeting, this week, of the Council of the New Zealand Institute of Surveyors it was reported that, owing to the high standard of conduct and the technical efficiency of the profession in New Zealand, Eastern countries, "with large areas still tindeveloped, were looking with an increasing degree of interest to New Zealand for trained men. With those who had just left and who were on the point of leaving, 15 fully-qualified New Zealand surveyors were departing far the Federated Malay States. British North Borneo and Fiji, and Western Australia. The council went as a deputation to the Minister of Lands to stress the urgency of the new Survey Bill, and to discuss an improved method of levying the department’s demand for reserves in subdivisions for residential purposes.
