Swimming an unpaced race through the scarcity of girl swimmers, Miss Simmonds (Napier) put up a splendid performance by shattering the 220yds women’s championship record in the line time of 3m 7 3-ss, the previous record being 3m 8 2-ss.
The G:.sborne team romped home in the Swain Memorial Cup relay race by seven yards from Napier. The winners clipped 4 3-5 s off the old record.
