HAURAKI PLAINS CRICKET
DISPUTED MATCH CONTINUED CUP PLAY-OFF NECESSARY (From Our Own Correspondent) NGATEA, Monday. The i-esult of the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association’s inter-club competition is still in doubt, as the Waitakaruru Club failed on Saturday last to add the winning points to its total in the continuation of the match against Kopuarahi, which was stopped when the only available leather ball was broken. In that match the Kopuarahi team had a lead of 15 runs on the first innings, and this margin gave it the victory on Saturday with nine runs to spare. Kopuarahi opened and made SS, of which T. McKay accounted for 46, and Roy Green 11. Waitakaruru followed with 92, the highest scores being A. McPherson 20 not out, and E. Duffin 14. The best bowlers were A. McPherson 6-36 and E. Gill 3-9. Waitakaruru will accordingly have to play off with Turua.
