Senior-Sergeant Lewis said that accused and a younger boy wanted some money with which to go to Corsair Bay. * They devised a great scheme for getting money. They were to go up behind a woman in the street, and one was to grab hold of her handbag while the other cut the strings with a pair of scissors. This scheme they put into effect. The accused was ordered to be detained in a Borstal institution at Invercargill for a term not exceeding two years. The younger boy appeared in the Children’s Court charged similarly to Phillipson and was committed to the care of the Child Welfare Officer.
