Opotiki Oddfellows. —The Opotiki Oddfellows celebrated the 29th anniversary of their lodge on Thursday evening with a banquet and dance. Assaulters Fined. —James McCarthy, aged 49, and Robert Arneil, aged 46, who were both charged at the Police Court to-day with assault, were each fined £l. Mails Arriving. —The Chief Postmaster advises that the s.s. Marama left Sydney on February 24 at 3 p.m. and is due as* Auckland on February 28 with 478 dags of English and Australian mail. Mails Home. —The Chief Postmaster advises that the mails which left Auckland on January 17, per the R.M.S. Niagara, via Vancouver, arrived at London on February 19. Bus and Cycle Colllide. —A City Council motor-bus and a motor-cycle collided on the Whau Bridge, Avondale, about 5.30 last evening. The cycle was damaged, but the rider escaped with little injury. Wellington Land Deal.—Mr. P. Schneideman. of Wellington. has bought from Bond Street, Ltd., a block of land with a 33 feet frontage to Manners Street, by a 75 feet depth to Bond Street (late Farish Street), for £21,000. Remanded For Sentence. —James Cope, aged 30, who pleaded guilty at the Police Court to-day to chargers of stealing clothing and a fire extinguisher was remanded a week for sentence. False Pretence Charge. —Edwin Andrew Simpson, aged 29, charged at the Police Court to-day with obtaining groceries and money by false pretences, was remanded to appear next Thursday. Fall from Steps.—An elderly widow. Mrs. Annie Britton, fell down the steps outside her home at 10 Vincent Street, city, yesterday afternoon, cutting her right knee and spraining her right v/rist. She was taken to the Auckland Hospital, where she is progreesjing favourably.
