BODY ON ROADSIDE

WELL-KNOWN FARMER’S DEATH SEVERE HEAD INJURIES (From Our Own Correspondent) WAIHI, To-day. While driving a taxi-car from Waihi to Waikino about 9.30 on Friday night Mr. J. Quintal saw the body of a man lying stretched across the road near the Waitete Bridge. The body proved to be that of_ Mr. Andrew J. Gordon, aged 50, a single man and a well-known farmer, of Waitekauri. On investigation life was found to be extinct. Mr. Quintal at once informed the police and a doctor, and the body was brought to Waihi, where an inquest was held at 11.30 o’clock this morning. It’appeared from the evidence that deceased, who had received severe head injuries, had, apparently, been thrown from his horse, which was found a few chains away from the place where the accident occurred.

The police asked for an adjourn ment, and the coroner granted the an plication.
