GOVERNMENT WINS AGAIN

AS usual the biggest winner at the Otahuhu Trotting Club’s summer fixture is the Government, which collected the large sum of £6,478 in taxation. The amount was made up as follows: Totalisator tax, £2,140 12s; dividend tax, £3,853 2s; stakes tax. £357 10s; amusement tax, £126 16s. Trotting is a popular sport with the public, and it is one that must be appreciated by the Government when such a sure dividend comes to hand.
