VOLCANIC CONES

PRESERVATION CAMPAIGN OTAHUHU’S ATTITUDE At the meeting of the Otahuhu Borough Council last night a letter was received from the Auckland Town Planning Association asking the cour, cil’s attitude toward the endeavour to preserve the volcanic cones of the district. In the course of discussion the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, said the principal area concerning the council was under the control of the Mout Richmond Domain Board, of which he is chairman. This board at present holds a credit balance of over £6OO for the beautification of the area under its control, and it did not feel inclined to hand this over to the local body in whose district the reserve was situated —Mount Wellington Road Board. His board was unanimously in favour of the preservation of the volcanic cones.
