VETERAN FIRE-FIGHTER
OTAHUHU APPRECIATIVE At the close of the Otahuhu Borough Council meeting last night, the Mayor, Mr. R. B. Todd, called on Mr. J, Willson, the late superintendent of the fire brigade, who has served in that capacity since the brigade’s inception 14 years ago, to receive a silver cigarette case, suitably inscribed, as a memento of his splendid services. Mr. Todd eulogised the good work which had been accomplished by the whole brigade. Mr. Wilson, in accepting the gift, expressed his thanks, and stated that although he was out of harness at the present time, he would always be on hand when the occasion arose, Otahuhu Brigade was recognised as one of the most efficient and up-to-date brigades in the suburban area of Auckland. The health of the brigade was toasted by Cr. Arlington, accompanied by musical honours. Superintendent Ander responded. Before the conclusion of the function Mr. Wilson proposed the health of the council, and the Mayor briefly replied.
