RIVER TRANSPORT
DIFFICULTIES IN WAIHOU The dry weather is interfering seriously with the navigation of the Waihou River. From Tirohia the water is more shallow than it has been for many years. Much cargo is discharged from the Northern Steamship Company's steamer at Paeroa and dispatched by barges to Te Aroha at rates which are considerably below those charged by the railways. It is therefore to be hoped that the river transport will not be seriously interfered with.
