HOSPITAL EXTENSION

NEW DISEASE-WARDS FINE BUILDING PLANNED Subject to final approval of the plans by the Ministry of Health, the Hospital Board intends shortly to proceed with the erection of a new ward for infectious disease in the hospital grounds, at a cost of nearly £40,000. THE architects’ design provides for a ■*" three-storey frame structure of reinforced concrete and red brick. The ground being of a steep, sloping nature allows of a separate access to each floor. It may be found necessary for isolation purposes to erect a strong > fence around the building six or seven feet high. The preliminary estimate gives the cost of the building at £39,000. to which must be added road formation, loft in width, £975. It is recommended that application be made to the Minister for sanction to the proposed work, and to the loans board for per- i mission to raise the necessary capital.
