COMPETITION RESULTS
The last short story competition brought entries from far and near, and resulted in a general high standard of work. The prize of ten shillings (10s) has been won by Blue Moon (Peggy Wilson), one of Hie first Wigwam Braves, for her dramatic and cleverly handled “Desert Phantom.” This arresting story calls up a vivid picture, and has more than a suggestion of power. Little Swift Canoe (Fitzie Morris) and Harvest Moon (Alma Chamberlain) head the highly commended list with their dainty and imaginative tales, “Clematis” and “Ribbons in the Wind.” These Braves have the gift of instilling colour into the written word. The results are as follow: First: Blue Moon (Peggy Wilson, 39 Brown Street, Ponsonby, aged 16) • Highly commended: Little Swift Canoe (Fitzie Morris, Epsom, aged 15) and Harvest Moon (Alma Chamberlain, (Riccarton, Christ- \ church, aged 17) equal; Dew of June (Helen Williams, Ellerslie, aged 16) ; Summer Lightning (Kathleen Teape, Auckland) ; .Little Lone Pine (Phyllis Agar, Marton) ; Brave Hunter (J. H. Dobbyn, Grey Lynn); Red Dawn (N. McLeod, Dominion Road); Yellow Feather (Violet Stone, Onehunga); Singing Bird (Ruth Niblock, Stanley Bay); Sunlit Glade (Patricia Kennedy, Western Springs); Waving Pampas (Sedwell Thwaites, Huntly).
