“MOST OBJECTIONABLE”
METHODISTS ON MOVIES PASSING THE CENSOR Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH. To-day. The Methodist Conference considered the report of its Temperance and Morals Committee on films and posters. The committee stated that there were evidences that films of most objectionable quality were still passing the censor, rpHE report was supported by various speakers, but the president, the Rev. W. J. Elliott, said he had gone to a few so-called “doubtful" pictures, and had not seen much in them to cavil at. The conference proceeded to discuss the showing of films on Sunday, especially on the West Coast and in the King Country. The question was referred to the Temperance and Morals Committee. LICENSING BILL The Methodist Conference decided to support the New Zealand Alliance In pressing for the reictroduction of a favourable Licensing Bill next session.
