BIRKENHEAD BAND

MARCH PROGRAMME At the committee meeting of the Birkenhead Band, held last evening in the council chambers, the secretarv reported that the following engagements were booked for the band for the month: February 23, selections at the bandstand, civic reserve; February 25, Birkenhead and Northcote Regatta: March 4, Mental Hospital, Avondale, in the morning, and at the civic reserve in the evening: March 10, Paddy’s Market at Northcote; March 11. policemen’s picnic at Pine Island: March 18, selections at Island Bay, and at the reserve in the evening. The fun fair bazaar, to be held on March 23 and 24, was advanced another stage, when it was decided to run about seven or eight different stalls, with numerous sideshows. Invitations are to be sent to various city bands to assist. Approval is to be sought from Mr. E. G. Skeates to hold a dance on his lawn on the Saturday evening after the fair. _
