PRIVILEGE ABUSED

UNSCOUTLIKE SCOUTS CITY COUNCIL ACTS Some Aucklanders are asking themselves, “When is a Boy Scout not a Boy Scout?” APPARENTLY the boys, have been granted certain privileges in respect to the old quarry site at Western Springs, which the City Council leases to Mr. W. Wilson for grazing. Early this month, according to a report to the Parks Committee of the City Council, a party of Boy Scouts set fire to the grass and burned off all the available fodder. “The privileges granted to them have been abused by careless fire-lighting, aqd also by the annoyance of continually leaving the gates open,” reported the city property inspector. Because of these unscout-like activities all privileges are to be withdrawn.
