LITTLE ORPHAN’S DEATH

DROWNED AT OPOTIKI A little boy named Peter Carter, an orphan, was accidentally drowned at Opotiki wharf shortly before four o’clock yesterday afternoon. Deceased, who was only about six years old, was by himself at the time of the fatality. Dragging operations were continued by a large number of men until nearly midnight, when the body was recovered.

The boy’s parents died some time ago. He is survived by one brother and two sisters.
