GUILTY OF INDECENCY
HEAVY SENTENCE IMPOSED “MENACE TO COMMUNITY” “You are a menace to the community, and it seems to me that I must protect society. You have been a lawabiding citizen, and that makes it all the more dangerous,” said Mr. Justice Blair in the Supreme Court this morning when imposing a sentence of five years’ imprisonment with hard labour on John Edwin Robinson, found guilty of attempted carnal knowledge and indecent assault.
Speaking on bfhalf of the prisoner, Mr. Bryce Hart said that owing to the gravity of the charge he could say very little on prisoner’s behalf. He had already served a term for a similar offence, and except for this dreadful weakness had always conducted himself well. He was a man close on GO years of age. His Honour said it was true that except for the offence mentioned the prisoner had not been in trouble. It was unfortunate that he was so constituted, and he hoped that after serving the sentence he would be cured of his failing.
