DOUBLE TRAGEDY
WASHBOURNE SUICIDE WIFE ALSO DEAD BODY FOUND IN DAM Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Thursday. The body of Mrs. Wasbourne, whose husband, William Henry Wasbourne, shot himself at his father’s farm at Selwyn, on Monday night, after having made an attempt to shoot his wife as she lay in bed, was found this evening in a dam near the farm homestead. The woman’s husband on Monday night went into the room which he shared with her, placed a loaded gun against her head and fired. Mrs. Washbourne saved her life by pushing the gun aside with her hand, the charge passing through the wall. The room was in darkness so that Washbourne may have left supposing he had killed his wife. He -left- the room and house and shot himself 'de&d’.

She was interviewed-by a-police-officer and very soon aftferWaV'ds disappeared. A search Was" at once begun and had been continued until this evening, when her body, jvas found in the dam.
