CLAY BIRD SHOOTING
AUCKLAND GUN CLUB The members of the Auckland Gun Club held a successful series of clay bird matches at Panmure yesterday. A tricky wind prevailed, and the shooting was excellent under the conditions. The first seven-bird match was divided by A. E. Macredie (19yds). A. Hannigan (15yds), and ID. Cairns (13yds), with six out of seven. The chief match,, for a handsome trophy donated by R. N. Montgomery, resulted in a tie between A. E. Macredie (19yds) and B. Grayson (14yds), with 14 out of 15. They divided the stake, and shot o ff f or the trophy, Grayson winning on the twenty-fourth round. A. E. Macredie (20yds), J. E. Fitt (16yds>, and C. E. Hodge (15yds) tied with the possible in a ten-bird match, and shot off for the stake, Macredie winning on the seventeenth round. The final seven-bird match resulted in a tie between J. E. Fitt (16yds) and R. Hannigan (14yds), with the possible of seven. A challenge five-bird match between Duncan, Kellett, Riley, and Fairley was won by Fairley on the nineteenth round.
