MANGERE TRANSPORT

MANUKAU COUNTY - COUNCIL STILL PROTEST FACILITIES INADEQUATE Members of the Manukau County Council are still battling against the No. .1 Licensing Authority which has refused applications to establish a bus service - from Mangere to the city. Mr. S. W. House, who is the Mangere representative on the council, stated that lack of transport facilities was forcing people to walk between Otahuhu and Onehunga. Mr. House was appointed to represent the council at the Transport Commission, which is sitting shortly. He was also asked to enter a protest at the next meeting of the licensing authority. In the opinion of the county chairman, Mr. F. M. Waters, it would be necessary to petition the Government, in the event of an unfavourable reception of the protest.
