ANNIVERSARY REGATTA
CORRECTION IN L CLASS The washing-up meeting of the Auckland Anniversary Regatta Committee was held on Monday under the chairmanship of the president, Mr. VV. P. Endean. As the result of a letter from the owner of Kokiri, which had been placed first, admitting? that he had not completed the course, the placing in L class w’ere amended as follows: Mowal. 1; Louisa, 2; Venus, 3. The champion flag goes to Venus, first boat to finish in her class. The- owner of the 18-footer Leverette also advised the committee he had not sailed the full course. As there was a doubt, however, whether Tui, which had been placed second, had completed the course, the result of this race was deferred for further evidence. Several letters were received questioning the decision of the judge in the race for first-class yachts, the opinion being that Nga-Toa had crossed the finishing line ahead of Rawene. The report of the judge, Mr. J. Longbottom, who had placed Rawene four seconds ahead of Nga-Toa, was read, and it was unanimously agreed to reaffirm his decision. The treasurer reported that the receipts totalled £529 8s 6d. and. after meeting all liabilities, a credit balanced would be carried forward for next year’s regatta. The receipts included *£42o from subscriptions, £69 15s from entrance fees, and £53 15s from programme rights. It was decided to hold prize night in the Navy League rooms on Friday, February 24,
