ACCIDENT AT BATHS

EX-GOVERNOR’S MORNING SWIM A slight accident befel General Sir Tom Bridges, former Governor of South Australia, while he was descending the steps to the Parnell baths on Monday morning. The steps at a certain point were not too strong, and they gave way as soon as the weight of Sir Tom was placed on them. The slip damaged the General’s artificial leg, with the result that on the return journey up the steps he was compelled to use his sticks. The accident did not prevent him enjoying his morning swim, however, and he, together with Lord Grimthorpe, made the most of his splash in the baths at “the Point.”
