COMPETITION MATCHES (From Our Own Cor respondent) NGATEA, Monday. The Hauraki Plains Cricket Association’s inter-club competitions were continued on Saturday last. Kopuarahi secured a two-point win from Ngatea, securing 56 runs and dismissing the home team for 24, The Turua team was badly beaten at Kaihere by an innings and 43 runs, the home team securing 86. Waitakaruru secured a three-point win against Orongo. The best batsmen of the various teams on the day were as follow: —Kopurahi, Russel Green, 21, not out; H. Candy 8 and T. O’Carroll 8. Ngatea, W. Chappell 5 and F. Nicol 5. Kaihere, H. Dare 26, F. Woodbridge 23. Turua, H. Owens 9, A. Hayes 9. The best bowlers on the day were: Kopuarahi, E. Gill, 7-11. Ngatea, N. Boyne, 2-1. Kaihere, B. Nolan, 6-16 and 5-5, A. J. Donald, 3-7 and 4-5. Turua, M. Madgwick, 2-4, J. Jenkins, 5-21. The defeat of the Turua team and the three-point victory of the Waitakaruru team makes the result of the competition in doubt. With the exception of Kaihere all teams still have one match to play and the championship points are now as follow: Turua 20, Waitakaruru 20, Kaihere 19, Kopuarahi 15, Ngatea 9, and Orongo 4. Kopuarahi and Waitakaruru have an innings to play if necessary on account of the match abandoned on the breaking of the only available ball.
