WINTER GETS BIG SCORE (From Our Oxen Correspondent) TE AWAMUTU, Monday. The second round of the Waipa Cricket Association was commenced on Saturday. High School secured another win by defeating Korakonui, who were disposed of in the first innings for 100 runs. Armstrong and Winter opened for High School. The latter was unbeaten, and retired after scoring 126. His total included 22 fours and one six. After scoring six he gave an easy chance, which was not accepted. Armstrong made 23, Coggins not out 19, and McMahon 14. High School put on 194 for four wickets. For Korakonui the highest scorers were Kay 34, Kerr 24, Orr 14, Grant 13 being the others to get into double figures. A close contest was the match Te Kawa v. Paterangi which ended in Paterangi’s favour by five runs. Te Kawa were dismissed for the small total of 43, Coverdale being top scorer with 15. followed by R. Mexted 32. Somerville was Paterangi's main support, scoring 23 of the total of 48. Bowling for Paerangi, McLay took two wickets for 22, B. Spiers three for 16, and L. Spiers five for 4. For Te Kawa R. Ashton took three wickets for 12, R. Mexted three for IS and C. Mexted two for 2. Te Awamutu journeyed to Kaipaki and met the home team, defeating them by five wickets and 130 runs. For Te Awamutu Barnett scored 51, Blundel 4S, G. Morris 34, Ward 16. For Kaipaki J. McEldownev compiled 30, E. McEldowney 9, C. Bones and A. Allen six each. The totals were: Te Awamutu. 165: KaiDaki. 35.
