TREATMENT OF T.B.
NATIONAL SCHEME URGED ASHBURTON REMIT Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Monday. The Hospital Board adopted the ! committee’s report advocating that provision be made by the State for the proper inspection of the homes of T.B. people, and pensions for the dependant of those necessitous cases who have to enter institutions for T.B. treatment; that the law should be amended to make all cases and types of T.B. notifiable; that the State should take up the question of the control and treatment of incorrigible cases; and that the law should be amended to compel each hospital board to take up what the department regards as its proper share of responsibility for the treatment of T.B. The report also stated that the board is heartily in accord with any national scheme which, while dealing with the question of also deals with the contributory causes in an effective manner. It considers that the mere combining of existing Institutions is a very inadequate method of dealing with the problem. It also considers that the law should provide for compensation on a fair market.value for cows destroyed. The report was adopted as a remit to the Hospital Boards Association.
