TRAGEDY AT GISBORNE MAN FROM DIOMEDE KILLED Press Association. GISBORNE, To-day. The visit of the Dibmede to Gisborne was marred by a fatal accident which occurred early in the morning when the body of one of the members of the crew, George Oswald Carr, telegraphist, was found lying in ths yard at the back of the Albion Hotel. Deceased, with a mate, Thomas Preece, had attended a dance and put up at the hotel'for the night. Carr left his room for a few moments and Preece fell asleep, not noticing that Carr had not returned. Carr’s body was found in the hotel yard by a night porter at 5 a.m. Deceased was a married man and had one child. His wife lives in England. He had 12 years’ service with the Navy.
