GOOD FISHING

BIG TROUT AT LAKE OKATAINA A POPULAR LODGE The new Ashing lodge at Okatalna Lake in the Rotorua district is proving a most popular resort for anglers, and some flne Ash are being caught. Two Australians who have tried out most of the Ashing grounds in New Zealand, Messrs. St. Laurence and Clark, are most enthusiastic about the trout available and the comfort of the lodge. In one day this week, Mr. St. Laurence landed Ash weighing 121 b, 91b and 81b, while his companion’s biggest scaled 141 b, 121 b, 101 b and 61b, all in excellent condition. Both consider that the Ashing and the catches are considerably better than at Taupo, where they could not .and anything over 61b. Okataina is situated in an old mountain crater, and native bush grows to the water's edge. The lodge, which is on the edge of the lake, is reached after a drive of Ave miles through native bush.
