THEATRES’ PICNIC
MOTUTAPU TO-MORROW Hundreds of tickets have been sold for the combined theatrical picnic at Motutapu to-morrow, but there will ba plenty of ferries. The ships leave from the ferry wharf at 9.30 a.m. Port Auckland Band will play the music, and there will be jazz, naildriving competitions, a baby show, races, and swimming. Tickets are on sale at Eady’s, Coleman’s, and all the theatres. The picnic will be in aid of the sick and benevolent fund. A spectacular gold mine disaster and a big college football game, both photographed from many angles by 20 cameras, are the pictorial features of “White Flannels,” Warner Bros.’ production, which Master Pictures will shortly release. The story, concerning a miner who became a college football star, was adapted from a tale by Lucien Cary which appeared in the American “Saturday Evening Post.” Jason Ito bards and Louise Dresser, who scored in “The Third Degree,” head the cast, and are supported by Virginia Brown Faire, Warner Richmond and George Nichols.
