BRIGHTON SCRUB FIRE
CHRISTCHURCH OUTBREAK Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. An extensive scrub fire a mile, in length, and a quarter of a mile in width occurred at South Brighton this evening. Owing to the dryness of the scrub which covers the sandhills in this locality the fire raged several hours before it was eventually got under control. Fortunately there was little wind, but it was with difficulty that a house occupied by M. Hart was saved. A motor-car was destroyed. This is the third scrub fire at Brighton during the past two months.
