In the angles Brugnon defeated Hopman, 6—3, Borotra defeated Patterson, 7 —5, r—4- In the doubles, Brugnon and oousaaa defeated Crawford and Hopman, o—4, —l. Hopman. in the singles, was right out °* *°rm and was repeatedly worked out °J Position. He never looked like winagainst the Frenchman, who Played on his top form. There was interest in the game between and Borotra, as the two had n °t met before during the to\ir, and it w as thought the result would give an naication of Australia’s Davis Cup Both men played superb tena*id the game was most hardly -°ught, but Patterson was guilty of «*Tors and finally lost the match a double fault.—A. and N.Z.
