Hopman. in the singles, was right out °* *°rm and was repeatedly worked out °J Position. He never looked like winagainst the Frenchman, who Played on his top form. There was interest in the game between and Borotra, as the two had n °t met before during the to\ir, and it w as thought the result would give an naication of Australia’s Davis Cup Both men played superb tena*id the game was most hardly -°ught, but Patterson was guilty of «*Tors and finally lost the match a double fault.—A. and N.Z.
