UNEMPLOYMENT INCREASE

THIS WEEK’S FIGURES A considerable increase in unemployment is shown by figures supplied by the Labour Department this morning. A total of 823 men are registered, compared with 725 for the preceding week, an increase of 98. Men classed as fit for heavy work number 717 and 106 as suitable for light work only. Last week’s figures were 649 and 76 respectively. During the week 35 men were placed in employment compared with 140 for the week ending February 4.
