The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Opawa has been sold for £20,000 to a Norwegian firm for conversion into a whaling factory.—A. and N.Z. The Opawa has been a regular trader between Australia and New Zealand ever since she was buiult in 1906. During the war she was a troopship. She was built in 1906 by Denny and Brothers, of Dumbarton, for the New Zealand Shipping Company. She is a steel twin-screw steamer, with a registered tonnage of 9,306 tons, a length of 460 ft and a breadth of 60ft.
