DRIVERLESS TRAINS

POSTAL INNOVATION UNDERGROUND MAIL SYSTEM By Cable.—Press Association. — Copyright. Reed. 9.5 a m. LONDON, Thurs. The Post Office has inaugurated a new underground system of handling mail traffic between the principal offices, including the General Post Office, and also the huge parcels office. The latest extensions provide for a continuous nine-foot tunnel from Paddington to Whitechapel, a' distance of six and a-half miles. Miniature driverless trains, electrically controlled, convey postbags, either stopping at all stations or running a non-stop through journey. The full distance is covered in 15 minutes. The tube also links up offices on main-line railway stations.—Times.
