warehouse gutted 1 CHRISTCHURCH BLAZE INSURANCES TOTAL £25,000 Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, To-day. last evening completely tutted the warehouse of Messrs. AitchiSteans and Company, Ltd., in Lichfield Street, causing very extensive damage. The outbreak was discovered shortly -tter half-past ten by which time it Jad obtained a firm hold of the middle 0 f the building. The firemen had a very strenuous battie with the flames before the outbreak was brought under control. The stock which comprised fancy goods of a highly inflammable nature provided fierce fuel for the blaze. Fireworks in stock exploded from time to time, adding to the din. jlo estimate of the damage has yet been given, but ' t is very considerable and probably largely in excess of the insurance. The managing director of tbs firm stated that the insurances on the stock amounted to approximately £20,000, and on the building to about £5,000.
