MANUREWA TOWN BOARD
WATER SUPPLY The Manurewa Town Board met last evening, Mr. W. T. Cox presiding. The suitability of Takanini as the site of the proposed pound was favourably commented on by the members. Mr. Page is to submit a report to the Manukau County Council on the question. Mr. Fawcett advised that at present the new bore on the bowling green property was delivering 1,000 gallons per hour, and up to the present time 150,000 gallons had been put on the bowling green. The engineer was instructed to submit an estimate of the proposed work on Coxhead’s Road, and he advised the board that the swamp on the road was as formidable as ever, and the only way to rid the area of t|iis trouble was a comprehensive scheme of drainage. Accounts totalling £179 Is 6d were passed for payment. The Great South Road Beautifying Society notified that £B6 19s 9d had been collected for the beautification of the road. The need of clearing Station Road of a prolific growth of blackberries was stressed by Mr. Lupton, and it was decided that the work be treated as urgent.
