The mixed doubles event in the Australian tennis championship tourney resulted: —Fox and Miss Boyd (Victoria) defeated Boussus and Miss Bickerton (New South Wales), 6—l, B—6.8 —6. In the men’s doubles event Borotra and Brugnon defeated Schlesinger and Wergheim (Victoria). 6—4, 3—6, 5 —7, 6 —l, 6 —l!
Horahora Works. —The Horahora works will be closed again on Sunday from 8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. to clear the turbines. The position has generally improved. Papatoetoe Building. —The building permits issued by the Papatoetoe Town Board were very small for the month of January. Only one permit was issued for a new dwelling, valxied at, £6OO. Alterations brought the value up to £ 650.
