MONS VETERAN DIES

LATE MR. J. ARDEN Mr. John Arden, of Palmerston Hoad, Birkenhead, a member of the Mona Veterans’ Association, died m tne Auckland Hospital yesterday at the age of 43. He leaves a wife and five children. • Mr. Arden was born in London in June,/1885. He joined the standing army in 1904, serving in . the Essex Regiment. He rose to the .rank of corporal and was later transferred to the Suffolk Regiment. He served through the Great War, being wounded twice. He fought in the battle of Mons, In 1923 he came out to New Zealand, having been invalided out of the army three years previously on account of chest troubles.

All members of the Mons Veterans’ Association are invited to attend his funeral at Waikumete Cemetery tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m-.
