An Outstanding Figure in Dominion Bowling
Few men are better known in New Zealand bowling than Air. ,T. W. Hardley, immediate past president of the Dominion Bowling Association, who has been appointed manager of the New Zealand bowling team which will tour Australia and the Old World this year. In 1904, at Hamilton, Mr. l-lardley joined the ever-swelling ranks of this popular sport, but played for only one season. In 1919 he linked up again by joining the West End Club, of Auckland. For the following year he was elected delegate to the Auckland Centre. It was at once recognised that Mr. Hardley possessed rare and outstanding abilities on the administrative side of the game. Tie was therefore elected president of that fine body of men, and continued in office for three years. THE GREATEST HONOUR IN BOWLING For the 1926-27 season Mr. Hardley was elected to the supreme position in New Zealand bowling—the presidency of the Dominion. Association. His tenure of office was marked by far-reaching results in the history of the £ame. He flung himself into the work with that whole-souled enthusiasm which has been the secr?t of his success, and he set a new standard by visiting every possible centre in the Dominion. With his wide knowledge, both administrative and personal. of New Zealand bowling, and his outstanding social qualities in the game, it has been a most happy choice that he has been selected to take charge of The first Dominioa teuring side to visit
the chief bowling centres of the world. On February 10 the eight months’ tour will commence. The places to be visited are as follow: Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, France, Italy, Switzerland, England. Scotland, Ireland, Wales, New York, Chicago, Canada, and California. With the exception of the Continental countries mentioned, games will be played in all places' visited. All details of this most extensive tour have been left in the hands of Mr. Hardley, and New Zealand is fortunate in having such m outstanding figure at the head of such an important bowling tour.
