CATTLE BREEDERS MEET
AUSTRALIAN IMPORTATIONS THE “SCRUB BULL” Press Association. PALMERSTON N., Wednesday. A meeting of the executive of the Dairy Cattle Breeders’ Federation was held at Feilding yesterday evening to discuss the question of the importation into the Dominion of Australian dairy cattle consequent upon the receipt of a letter forwarded by the Minister of Agriculture from the secretary of the Council of Advice, New South Wales, and circulated by the New Zealand Department of-Agriculture among the cattle breeders’ associations. The letter asked for a lifting of the ban against the importations of cattle from parts of Australia free from diseases. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Department of Agriculture. The meeting also discussed at length the question of the “scrub bull,” having received from the live stock division of the Department of Agriculture, Victoria, an outline of the scheme there to help farmers to secure pedigree bulls for their herds. It was resolved to forward a copy of the letter to the various breed societies.
