ELDERLY STOWAWAY

COULD NOT GET WORK A TRIP TO COLON “I could not earn a living in this country, and so I decided that it was best to pack up and get out,” said Charles Greethurst (62) when charged at the Police Court yesterday with stowing away on the Ruapehu. “That is not the way to get out,” remarked the magistrate. The defendant was found on the ship two hours after leaving Auckland on November 25 last. He was placed on board the Cambridge at Colon and arrived here yesterday. The shipping company did not ask for anything. The defendant was convicted and ordered to come up % for sentence if called on.
