WHITTON’S GOOD CARD FORMER VICTORIAN CHAMPION (Special to THE SUN.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. An interesting visitor to New Zealand is Ivo Whitfon, a former amateur golf champion of Victoria. Whitton, who leaves shortly for Auckland, intends to visit Christchurch and Dunedin, the latter in order to play with Dr. K. Ross. In a four-ball match, which included Sloan, Morpeth. Arthur .Duncan, and T. H. Horton, at Miramar yesterday, WhittOn played three rounds in Tevel fours. He did 70, 75, and 71, playing perfect golf, and was two up on Morpeth at the end of the day. The evenness of "Whitton’s game is shown by the fact that in the whole day he holed out only one long putt. Bogey at Miramar is 78. KIRK-WINDEYER TEAM MATCH IN CHRISTCHURCH Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, "Wednesday. Members of the Australian KirkWindeyer Cup team visited Christchurch to-day, g.nd played a match against members of the Christchurch Club on the Shirley links. Results are as follows, the Australians being mentioned first:— Four-ball.—Dr. Lee-Brown and Peter McDonald beat Cropp and Humphrey, 4 and 2 Dr. Nigel Smith and W. R. Smith lost to Donald Grant and R. A. Wilson, 3 and 2. Singles.—W. R. Smith beat R. A. Wilson, 2 up: Nigel Smith lost to E. Humphrey; P. MacDonald lost to W. P. Anderson, 2 and 1; Rankin lost to Cropp, 4 and 2; Lee Brown lost to Donald Grant, 3 and 2.
