BUILDING CONTRACTS
AUCKLAND TENDERS ACCEPTED Building figures for 1928 in Auckland will receive a distinct boost by three buildings which will be commenced almost immediately, one of them being a five-storeyed structure at the corner of Vulcan Lane and Queen Street. It was announced this morning that the Fletcher Construction Company had beerl successful in their tenders for buildings which will approximate, in the aggregate, £120,000. These include: — £26,000 for a five-storeyed brick and reinforced concrete . building at the corner of Queen Street and Vulcan Lane, on the Site at present occupied by Hutchinson Bros., Ltd. £55,000 for a new building for Smith and Caughey, on the site of the old Opera House. This will be about eigtht storeys, the building going up to the city limit of 102 ft. £ 39,000 for a factory and office block for the New Zealand Milk Products Co. This will be situated at the corner of St. Georg’e Bay Road and Cleveland Road, and will cover a considerable area of land, but will not be very high.
