CHINESE PICNIC

TRIP TO MOTUTAPU The Chinese Masonic Society held its third annual picnic at Moutapu yesterday, when about 600 made the trip on the ferry steamer Condor. Luncheon was served in a large marquee, and the Europeans, being the guests of the Chinese, were served first. . The president, Mr. Chun-King Lim, welcomed the visitors in the Chinese language, and the secretary, Mr. Albert H. Duk, on behalf of the president and grandmaster, and committee, extended a hearty welcome to all the visitors, with an invitation to join in the sports and pleasure. “Throughout the year,” he said, “we meet many of you in business, and we wish tto make this day ‘Our Day/ for we feel that by gatherings such as these w T e will become better acquainted and by that we will establish the goodwill and friendship which we all desire in our dealings with our European neighbours.” Mr. Doel. on behalf of the visitors, suitably replied.
