REMITTANCE MAN CHARGED
IDLE AND DISORDERLY “I don't plead at all,” stated John Stephen Toomey (38), at the Police Court this morning in answer to a charge of being an idle and disorderly person. The evidence showed that Toomey was asked to leave a house where he was staying, and was found wandering about the street at 2 a.m.. The police stated that he did not work and. did not seem to want to work. “I am getting a remittance of £1 a week,” said Toomey. “If you were not getting that money perhaps you would be more energetic in looking for work,” remarked Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., “But I will remand you for sentence until Friday. It wont do you any harm to have a clean up.”- —— —— , ,
